Monitor traffic noise

The NL-42/52 series of hand-held sound level meters can be used for short-term monitoring of road traffic noise. For this purpose, install the function expansion program NX-42EX in the NL-42/52 sound level meter to provide auto store capability. Use the outdoor windscreen WS-15 and mount the meter on a tripod. The level recorder LR-07 can also be used for level recording.


To process recorded data on a computer, use the AS-60 data management software for environmental measurement. With the AS-60, it is possible to check intervals where sound levels are high, and to exclude unnecessary sounds.

Automatic constant monitoring of noise can be realized by configuring a dedicated system consisting of the environmental sound monitor NA-37 and environmental noise processing program NX-37A. This system automatically calculates and stores the necessary values at given intervals. It is also possible to use interval mode with recording in specified time slots only.


Data can be collected on USB memory media or monitored at any time via a communications link. For data processing, the environmental data processing software AS-40PA1 is used. This software can create reports (daily, monthly, etc.) of Lden and other values, and also allows listening to recorded real sound data. Multi-point monitoring is also supported, with the possibility to instantly switch between points for comparing data.
